Tufenkian Foundation Event Held in Chicago

Tufenkian Foundation Event Held in Chicago

It was a festive evening on December 8, 2023, as Chicago Armenians gathered at the Oscar Isberian Rugs gallery to hear about our Foundation work in Armenia.

Host Oscar Tatosian opened the gathering with words of welcome. He praised James Tufenkian for his philanthropic endeavors and especially for his pioneering business ventures in Armenia dating back to the 1990s. He then introduced Foundation trustee Dr. Antranig Kasbarian, who recounted the story of James' winding path to Armenia, as well as the history and growth of our Foundation's activities. He was followed by former Tufenkian Founsations Director Maro Matosian, who currently serves as the President of the Women's Support Center in Yerevan, who described WSC's ongoing work to combat domestic violence and promote women's rights throughout Armenia.

The evening concluded with a lively Q&A session, followed by a silent auction featuring an exquisite rug from the Tufenkian Artisan Carpets' Kazak collection. Donations from the evening will be devoted toward Artsakh refugee programs in Armenia.
