Tufenkian Purchases New Generator for Artsakh's Norshen Village

Tufenkian Purchases New Generator for Artsakh's Norshen Village

NORSHEN, Martuni, Artsakh (TUFENKIAN FOUNDATION)—The Tufenkian Foundation recently purchased and delivered a diesel generator to Norshen village in Artsakh’s Martuni region.

Due to a constant lack of electricity, the people of Norshen faced serious shortages of drinking water. “During and after the war, our village has been deprived of clean drinking water. The population was forced to retrieve water from nearby springs and other areas,” said Norshen Mayor Gevorg Harutyunyan. “Thanks to this donation, we have solved this vital issue.”

According to Tufenkian’s director of Artsakh programming Edvin Grigoryan, the 65-kilowatt diesel generator will provide enough electricity to ensure that all 85 families in the village have access to clean drinking water.

The Tufenkian Foundation is currently assessing the situation in the Martuni region, in order to carry out reconstruction and restoration efforts in the near future.
